Alhaji Jamiu Bosun Salau, a business mogul, was on the look-out for a fitting place where he could put up a petrol station that will serve the public with a difference.  He has always yearned to detach his business from the norms and elevate it to something that endear it to the hearts of its customers.

A phone call from a friend took him down to Awoyaya in Epe – an outskirt of Lagos – to inspect an expanse of land that could suit his dream.  When he drove down there, what struck him first was not the sprawling size of the land – an expanse of almost two acres – but the serene environment.   Given the hustling and bustling of Lagos cosmopolitan city, this was a different neighbourhood that is so alluring.

The cooling sea breeze that whistles and gently caresses one, the absolute tranquillity that envelopes one once you alight from your vehicle and the general mien, all look so enthralling.  There and then, Salau accepted to acquire the land but not to build any petrol station but to erect a befitting relaxation centre that will cater for people like him who cherish quietness and peaceful milieu.   That gave conception to an event and resort centre – Jata Event & Resort hotel.

Today, the two storey building with a detached twin duplex, stand imposingly in the area and provides first class hospitality to lovers of nature. Situated at Km 39 Lekki Epe express way, opposite Coscharis Motors – Awoyaya, Lagos, Jata Event & Resort hotel prides itself with 36 luxuriously furnished rooms and houses six conference rooms, one of which has a gallery and can conveniently sit over 1000 guests.  The exquisite setting is simply better experienced than imagined.

The detached twin duplex that serve as Presidential Suits, which can conveniently quarter even the President of the United States of America, is the most tastefully furnished of all the apartments.  It is also the costliest.  Then, there are the Classic, Dulux, Super Dulux and the Ambassadorial rooms that vary by their interior decors, furnishing and space settings.  Atop the main-building is a gym for the in-house guests, who like to keep fit and trimmed.

They also offer free wireless internet services for guests.  But what strikes first time visitors to Jata Event & Resort hotel most is the fact that the entire building and the rooms are not painted. They are wholly covered with glittering expensive marbles, including the flooring, which ensures dirt-free walls and floors despite the volume of people they handle on daily basis.

Outside, the spacious compound has a swimming pool and can accessibly park in over 500 cars.  The ground is floored with land-locked concrete blocks all around.  There is the Executive and Bush bars, which are meant to cater for different calibre of personalities that love night life.  The Bush bar, in particular is constructed with rafters and dried grass; thus giving it the village life setting.

For steady electricity supply, the entire edifice is powered by newly acquired and installed two 350 KVA generators.
