Final year undergraduate dies of diabetes

A final year undergraduate of Petroleum Training Institute (PTI) in Effurun, Delta State, Enakeme Ohwojero, has died six weeks to her graduation.

Ohwojero died from complications from diabetes, according to reports in The Nation.

The paper said like every other graduating student, late Ohwojero was upbeat about the forthcoming graduation, and she partook in the Students Week, a social event that was held recently in the school campus.

The report said Ohwojero, who was an  the HND II Electrical Department student after the event travelled to Abuja to see her fiancé, Peter Okeke, a student of the same department with her in PTI. Peter had deferred his studies to enable him keep his job at the Abuja office of Nestle Nigeria.

But penultimate Saturday, the 35-year-old undergraduate died of hyperglycaemia, a condition where there is excess glucose in the patient’s blood stream.

Prior to Ohwojero’s death, the report said she fell sick in Abuja, and Peter rushed her to Warri, in Delta State where her bereaved parents are based.
