Ukah calls on spokespersons to clear Issues with their bosses

Delta State Commissioner of Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has said that it is very important for spokespersons of governments or organizations to clear critical political issues with their bosses before responding to such issues.
Mr. Ukah, who spoke during the recently concluded Spokespersons’ Conference held in Abuja, stated that this will ensure that the spokesperson is not taken unawares which usually lead to refutations, corrections and confusion with the attendant loss of credibility.
The Information Commissioner also added that once the spokesperson is fully knowledgeable about things happening around his Principal, such a person will be strongly armed to respond to any matter raised in any forum.
Speakers at the conference offered in-depth insight into latest trends in government communication and Information distribution strategies, aimed at building and sustaining trust, as well as enhancing relationship between the government and the ruled.
The theme of the conference, which was organised in collaboration with the office of the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the President, was “Media, Public Affairs Reputation Management in a Democracy: Strategies, Techniques and Perspectives”.
