Police train Borno school principals, teachers in emergency response

The Borno State Police Command on Tuesday said it has trained school principals and teachers on emergency response through the use of the Police VGS Application.

A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Daso, noted that the exercise was meant to equip the teachers with the knowledge of responding to emergencies within their institutions

He said, “The Borno State Police Command, led by CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal, has collaborated with the state Ministry of Education to conduct training sessions for school principals and teachers. The training focuses on utilising the Police VGS Application to improve emergency response capabilities within educational institutions.

“This significant training, held on October 8, 2024, at the Borno State Ministry of Education State Secretariat in Maiduguri, aligns with the objectives of the Police Safer School Protection Squad, aimed at fostering a secure learning environment within schools.

“The Police VGS Application, an initiative introduced by the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, serves as a comprehensive solution enabling private citizens to promptly report emergencies related to natural disasters, terrorist activities, and criminal incidents.”

Daso, however, urged members of the public to access and utilise the Police VGS Application.
