The fraud allegations involving gospel record label owner Ezekiel ThankGod Onyedikachukwu, popularly known as Eezee Tee, have taken a new turn as Apostle Anslem Madubuko of Revival Assembly Church, Lagos, publicly shared his involvement in the unresolved disputes with Mercy Chinwo and Judikay.
In a statement, Apostle Madubuko accused Eezee Tee of sabotaging peaceful reconciliation efforts and defrauding both singers during their contracts with his record label. He disclosed that the financial disputes, especially with Mercy Chinwo, date back to 2022.
According to Madubuko, attempts to mediate the conflict included organizing meetings and hiring independent auditors to review the label’s accounts. However, these efforts were thwarted by Eezee Tee’s non-cooperation and refusal to provide the necessary documentation.
Mercy Chinwo, a renowned gospel singer, accused Eezee Tee of diverting funds meant for her royalties while she was signed to his label. Chinwo’s claims were denied by Eezee Tee, who asserted that their contract was a 50/50 arrangement and claimed to have invested over $624,000 in her career.
Similarly, Judikay, another gospel artiste formerly signed to the label, filed an embezzlement case against Eezee Tee in 2024, alleging that he misappropriated funds throughout her contract period from 2019 to 2024.
Apostle Madubuko revealed his role in trying to mediate between Mercy Chinwo and Eezee Tee. He recounted a 2022 meeting at his residence, attended by both parties and gospel artiste Chioma Jesus. During the meeting, an agreement was reached to bring in auditors from OLATUNJI FANIFOSI & CO to resolve the dispute.
However, Eezee Tee reportedly became uncooperative, accusing Madubuko of bias and refusing to honor the agreement to provide audit documents.
“All efforts to reach Ezekiel afterwards proved abortive, as he intentionally avoided my calls and messages. He even stopped paying Mercy her royalties for two years,” Madubuko stated.
The allegations have since escalated, with legal actions filed by both Mercy Chinwo and Judikay against Eezee Tee. Chinwo’s lawsuit seeks restitution for unpaid royalties, while Judikay accuses the label owner of embezzling $264,000 during her contract.
