Glo-sponsored African Voices Playmakers features Stonebwoy

This week, the Cable News Network (CNN) magazine program African Voices Playmakers, sponsored by Globacom, honours the exceptional talent of Stonebwoy, an Afropop and reggae musician from Ghana.

In an open interview with CNN’s Larry Madowo, the 36-year-old, whose true name is Livingstone Etse Satekla, confidently refers to himself as the “King of Afro-dancehall.” He is the Chief Executive Officer of the Accra, Ghana-based musical ensemble, Burniton. His commitment to using his musical genre to bring the Black diaspora together has increased his popularity.

Stonebwoy has won numerous accolades, including Artist of the Year at the 2015 Ghana Music Awards and Best International Act: Africa at the 2015 BET Awards. In addition, he received the Boomplay Golden Club medal and two Billboard trophies for reaching 100 million streams on the site.

He was included in YCEO and Avance media’s 2019 50 (Fifty) young CEOs list, which was established in 2018 in order to recognize outstanding young people who are dedicated to offering answers to some of Ghana’s difficulties.

Additionally, Stonebwoy has acted in two high-profile films, “Happy Death Day” and “My Name Is Ramadan.”

This edition of African Voices Playmakers will be aired on the DSTV Channel 401 on Saturday at 7.30 a.m. with repeat broadcast the same day at 11 a.m. Further rebroadcasts will be on Sunday 3.30 a.m., 6.00 p.m. and on Monday at 3.00 a.m. This will be repeated next week Saturday at 7.30 a.m., 11 a.m., on Sunday at 4.30 a.m., 7.00 p.m. and on Monday at 4.00 a.m.
