Four Kano reps defects from NNPP for ADC

Four members of the house of representatives from Kano State have defected from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The lawmakers — Sani Wakili (Minjibir/Ungogo), Muktar Zakari (Tarauni), Umar Datti (Kura/Madobi/Garun Mallam), and Abdulhakeem Ado (Wudil/Garko) — formally announced their defection during plenary on Wednesday.

Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the house read their letters on the floor, confirming the latest shift in party allegiance within the lower chamber.

The legislators attributed their exit from the NNPP to internal crises within the party, a recurring reason cited by defecting politicians in recent weeks.

In a related development, Kabiru Amadu, representing Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency of Zamfara State, and Emeka Chinedu from Imo State, also defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The African Democratic Congress has continued to gain momentum, attracting several lawmakers from rival parties as political actors reposition ahead of the next general election cycle.
