Exams Body, WAEC Confirms No Life Lost, Records Intact After Fire Incident

The authorities of the examination body, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), has confirmed that no life was lost in the fire incident that occurred in the early hours of Wednesday at its Nigerian Head Office in Yaba area of Lagos State.

The examination body in a statement by its Head of Public Affairs Department, Moyosola Adesina, commended the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency responders for prompt response to the situation.

Adesina in the statement said, “WAEC wishes to inform the general public that there was an early morning fire incident at the WAEC National Office, Yaba, Lagos.

“It was swiftly contained by a combined team of firefighters. Thankfully, no life was lost and all important documents and records are intact.”

Recall that the Council made a recent breakthrough as it launched its digital certificate on Thursday, making it easier to secure candidates’ certificates and other documents.
