Court Orders DNA Tests On Mohbad’s Son Amid Paternity Dispute

The lingering controversy over the paternity of late singer Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, a.k.a. Mohbad’s only child, has taken a dramatic turn. A Magistrate Court sitting in Ikorodu, Lagos, has ordered DNA tests to be conducted on little Liam Aloba.

The directive, handed down by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga on Tuesday, followed an application filed by Mohbad’s father, Mr. Joseph Aloba. He is seeking clarity on whether Liam is truly his late son’s biological child.

In the court papers filed through his counsel, Augustine Adegbemi from the chambers of Dr. Wahab Shittu (SAN) & Co., Mr. Aloba urged the court to mandate that the tests be carried out at “a recognised and accredited Government or private medical facility within Lagos State or other agreeable hospital outside Lagos State.” He also requested that samples be extracted from Mohbad’s remains currently preserved at the Military Hospital, Yaba.

Citing “uncertainty regarding the paternity of Master Liam,” Mr. Aloba argued that the DNA test was necessary to remove doubts, especially in relation to maintenance obligations and the child’s welfare.

Notably, the application was not opposed by Mohbad’s widow, Mrs. Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, who was represented in court by lawyer Kabir Akingbolu.

After listening to both sides, Magistrate Sonuga granted the application as prayed. The court directed that two DNA tests be carried out—one in Nigeria and another abroad—with both parties or their representatives present during the extraction of samples.

The case has been adjourned till November 11, 2025, for further proceedings.
