Renowned Nigerian music producer Cobhams Asuquo has opened up about how being blind has motivated him throughout his life and career.
In a recent interview with Hip TV, Cobhams explained that his disability pushed him to work much harder than most people.
“Being aware of my blindness made me put in five times the effort,” he said. “There’s a common stereotype that blind people are limited, and I worked hard to prove that I’m capable of much more.”
He emphasized the value of self-awareness, encouraging others to acknowledge their challenges rather than deny them.
“It’s important to recognize your reality—whatever you’re facing—so you can confront it head-on and demonstrate your strength through it,” he advised.
At 44, Cobhams expressed confidence and pride in his journey, stating that he fully embraces his condition.
“I’m comfortable with being called blind. I own it, and I’m proud of the life I’ve built and the things I’ve achieved,” he said.
