Arsenal fans stranded after plane crash

Many Arsenal fans were left stranded at the Basel Airport in Switzerland, following reports of a light aircraft crash.

The airport was closed after the Piper Pa-34 HB-Lsd from Nuremberg crashed, after attempting to land amid bad weather on Wednesday afternoon.

Arsenal supporters who stayed overnight after their team defeated Basel 4-1 win in the Champions League on Tuesday, were stuck in the middle of the huge delays.

“This flight from Basel to London Stansted has been delayed due to the temporary closure of the runway at Basel Airport,” Ryanair said in a statement.

“Customers have been provided with refreshment vouchers in the terminal and will board the aircraft to depart to London once the airport runway reopens.”
