Boluwatife, the son of Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti state, Adeoye Aribasoye, the speaker of the Ekiti state house of assembly, Bolaji Olagbaju; the deputy speaker, and Richard Apolola, the chairman of Ekiti South-West local government, have emerged as candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 state assembly elections.
Lateef Ibirogba, the chairman of the APC house of assembly primary election committee in Ekiti state announced the outcome of the primary election on Thursday evening, noting that candidates emerged across all 26 constituencies in the state.
According to him, the exercise was conducted in two phases, with 17 constituencies producing candidates through affirmation, while elections were held in the remaining nine constituencies.
He explained that the affirmation process was used where aspirants were unopposed.
“The primary elections were in two stages — 17 out of the 26 constituencies had affirmation because the aspirants were unopposed. Even where aspirants are unopposed, there must still be affirmation,” Ibirogba said.
For the contested constituencies, he said winners emerged through direct voting after collation of results from ward-level elections across the state.
Announcing the list of candidates, Ibirogba named the 17 aspirants returned through affirmation, including Ayorinde Ogunsakin (Ikole 1), Olaoye Ogunsakin (Ekiti East 2), Bose Olowookere (Efon), Bolaji Olagbaju (Ado 2), Oludare Ogunlana (Ekiti South West 2), and Adeoye Aribasoye (Ikole 2), among others.
He also listed winners from the nine contested constituencies, including Boluwatife Fayose (Irepodun-Ifelodun 2), Richard Apolola (Ekiti South-West 1), Ayodeji Adarabierin (Ado 1), Kole Ayeni (Ijero), and Matthew Kekereawo (Moba 2).
The APC committee said the primaries were conducted across all 26 constituencies, with results collated and announced in Ado Ekiti after reports from collation officers.
