UPDATED: Ikoyi prison inmates ignite fire at facility, Record, Admin offices razed, no jailbreak

Information reaching DAILY RECORD from the Ikoyi Correctional Centre indicates that a combined team of correctional officers, soldiers, police and the Civil Defence, has successfully foiled a revolt and attempted jailbreak at the prison in Lagos.

it was gathered that there was no jailbreak or hoodlums’ attack on the facility as some inmates ignited fire in part of the centre to pave way for their escape from the prison.

We reliably learnt that the record and administration offices of the centre were razed down even as no inmate escaped.

The Fire Service personnel had put off the fire as at press time.
