Yahaya Bello Suggests Nigeria Not United Under Buhari, Offers To ‘Do The Job’

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has suggested that the Muhammadu Buhari administration lacks what it takes to unite the country and has offered to “do the job” if given the opportunity in 2023.

Bello said it was high time the citizens “looked into capacity” if they desire to witness a departure from the norm in terms of delivery of good governance.

The governor, who is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), said this during his appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today on Friday.

“Nigerians, the youth and women, and all Nigerians, including very objective elites are asking me to run for President in 2023 and I believe it is high time that we looked into capacity, who can do the job, who is going to unify this country. And I think they are seeing something in me that they are asking me to come and unite and fix this country.

“My answer will be in the affirmative in a few time from now.

“I want to urge each and every one of us that are urging me to come to be patient. It’s a work in progress. And by the grace of God, I am not going to disappoint you when the time comes for me to give a response to that,” he said.

Bello was sworn in as governor in 2016 after he was chosen to replace Abubakar Audu who originally won the 2015 Kogi governorship election but died before being declared winner.

He had emerged as the first runner-up in APC’s governorship primaries and subsequently rode on Audu’s initial victory to emerge governor following a supplementary election conducted after Audu’s death.

The governor believes he has what it takes to win Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election.
