U.S Agency for International Development (USAID) through the Prosper Africa initiative is partnering with the United Bank for Africa (UBA) to increase two-way trade and investment between the United States and the nations of Africa. This partnership ensures businesses are equipped with the technical and financial tools they need to enter into new trading and investment relationships in Africa and the United States.
USAID will provide technical assistance and advisory services to prospective businesses through its Trade and Investment Hubs, and will connect UBA with African Diaspora business groups working across the United States. The MOU enables UBA, the only sub-Saharan African bank licensed to operate in the United States, to expand access its reach and extend financing to American companies in the United States looking to do business with African nations.

Recognizing tremendous growth opportunities, USAID and UBA are collaborating to advance Prosper Africa’s goal of substantially increasing two-way trade between Africa and the United States. By working together, they will extend financing and technical assistance to businesses that will strengthen the American economy, grow African economies, and create jobs on both sides of the Atlantic.
The two institutions entered into this agreement as part of the opening ceremony of the Tunisia Prosper Africa Conference, co-organized by the U.S. Embassy in Tunis and the American Chamber of Commerce of Tunisia. The event facilitated U.S. and African business-to-business connections and featured remarks by key representatives from the U.S. Government and the U.S. and African private sector.

تتعاون الوكالة الأمريكية للتنمية الدولية (USAID) من خلال مبادرة “ازدهار أفريقيا” (Prosper Africa) مع البنك المتحد لأفريقيا (UBA) لزيادة التبادل التجاري والاستثمار في الاتجاهين بين الولايات المتحدة ودول أفريقيا. تضمن هذه الشراكة إمداد المؤسسات الاقتصادية بالأدوات التقنية والمالية التي تحتاجها لإرساء علاقات تجارية واستثمارية جديدة في أفريقيا والولايات المتحدة.
ستقدّم الوكالة الأمريكية للتنمية الدولية المساعدة الفنية والخدمات الاستشارية للشركات من خلال أقطابها للتجارة والاستثمار، وستربط البنك المتّحد لأفريقيا بمجموعات أعمال الجالية الأفريقية العاملة بمختلف أنحاء الولايات المتحدة. تُمكّن مذكرة التفاهم هذه البنك المتّحد لأفريقيا، وهو البنك الوحيد من أفريقيا جنوب الصحراء المرخص له بالعمل في الولايات المتحدة، من توسيع نطاق نفاذه وتقديم التمويل للشركات الأمريكية المنتصبة بالولايات المتحدة والتي ترغب في القيام بأنشطة تجارية مع الدول الأفريقية.
وعيا من الطرفين بفرص النمو الهائلة تتعاون الوكالة الأمريكية للتنمية الدولية والبنك المتّحد لأفريقيا من أجل النهوض بما تهدف إليه مبادرة ازدهار أفريقيا من رفع نسق التبادل التجاري بين إفريقيا والولايات المتحدة بشكل كبير. وسيقدّم الطرفان بالعمل سويا التمويل والمساعدة الفنية للشركات ما من شأنه أن يقوي الاقتصاد الأمريكي وينمّي الاقتصادات الأفريقية ويخلق فرص عمل شرق المحيط الأطلسي وغربه.
وقد أبرم الطرفان هذه الاتفاقية خلال جلسة افتتاح مؤتمر “ازدهار أفريقيا” بتونس، الذي تنظمه سفارة الولايات المتحدة وغرفة التجارة الأمريكية بتونس. وقد سهّلت هذه الفعالية ربط الصلة بين المؤسسات الاقتصادية الأمريكية والأفريقية، وتحدثت خلالها شخصيات رئيسية تمثل الحكومة الأمريكية والقطاع الخاص الأمريكي والأفريقي.

L’USAID et United Bank for Africa signent un protocole d’accord sur les objectifs du commerce et de l’investissement bidirectionnels de Prosper Africa
L’Agence des États-Unis pour le développement international (USAID), par le biais de l’initiative Prosper Africa, s’est associée à la United Bank of Africa (UBA) pour accroître le commerce et les investissements dans les deux sens entre les États-Unis et les pays d’Afrique. Ce partenariat garantit aux entreprises les outils techniques et financiers dont elles ont besoin pour nouer de nouvelles relations commerciales et d’investissement en Afrique et aux États-Unis.
L’USAID fournira son assistance technique et ses services de conseil aux entreprises potentielles par le biais de ses Pôles de commerce et d’investissement, et mettra l’UBA en relation avec les groupes d’entreprises de la diaspora africaine travaillant aux États-Unis. Le protocole d’accord permet à l’UBA, la seule banque d’Afrique subsaharienne autorisée à opérer aux États-Unis, d’élargir l’accès à ses services et d’étendre son financement aux entreprises américaines basées aux États-Unis et qui souhaitent entretenir des relations commerciales avec des pays africains.
Conscients des énormes possibilités de croissance, l’USAID et l’UBA collaborent pour faire avancer les objectifs de Prosper Africa, qui consistent à accroître considérablement les échanges commerciaux entre l’Afrique et les États-Unis. En travaillant ensemble, ils apporteront aux entreprises un financement et une assistance technique, ce qui renforcera l’économie américaine, contribuera à la croissance des économies africaines et créera des emplois des deux côtés de l’Atlantique.
Les parties ont conclu cet accord dans le cadre de la cérémonie d’ouverture de la conférence Prosper Africa, ayant lieu en Tunisie et co-organisée par l’ambassade des États-Unis à Tunis et la Chambre de commerce américaine de Tunisie. L’événement a pour but de faciliter les relations entre les entreprises américaines et africaines et a été marqué par les interventions de représentants clés du gouvernement américain et des secteurs privés africains et américains.
