The Lagos Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petitions filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate, Olajide Adediran popularly known as Jandor, against the election of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The Tribunal sitting at the Lagos High Court, Ikeja, said Jandor and PDP’s petitions against the election of Sanwo-Olu lacked merit and dismissed them.

Justice Arum Ashom-led panel also held that Sanwo-Olu and his deputy, Dr. Kadri Hamzat are eminently qualified to contest the governorship election under section 177 of the Constitution.

The panel said that they are members of a political party and educated up to school certificate level.

“The grounds on which the petitioners is seeking disqualification of 2nd and 3rd respondents lacks merit,” the Tribunal said.

The tribunal has gone on a break and will take the petitions of the Labour Party and its candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour next.
