Tinubu gives NCCC’s topmost job to Majekodunmi

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Mrs. Omotenioye Majekodunmi as the Director-General of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC).

She succeeded Dr. Nkiruka Madueke, who led the Council since its inception in June 2024, according to a statement from Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Majekodunmi, a seasoned climate finance expert and environmental lawyer with over 17 years of experience, brings a wealth of expertise in renewable energy, carbon markets, and climate governance.

Having previously served as the NCCC’s Financial Adviser, she has been instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s climate policies and strengthening its international engagements on environmental issues.

President Tinubu expressed gratitude to Dr. Madueke for her dedicated service, noting her role in laying a robust foundation for the Council’s ongoing work.

Majekodunmi’s appointment underscores the administration’s commitment to addressing climate change as a critical driver of sustainable economic growth, national security, and social inclusion.

The new Director-General is expected to advance Nigeria’s climate agenda, building on existing frameworks to promote environmental resilience and economic opportunities through strategic policy implementation.
