Minority leader of the 10th Senate has been announced. He is Simon Mwadkwon, from Plateau state.

His emergence dashed the expectations of Senator Aminu Tambuwal, who was favoured by the PDP NWC.

An ally of Atiku Abubakar, the failed presidential candidate of the party, Tambuwal’s loss signalled the ascendance of the Nyesom Wike camp in the National Assembly.

Senate president Godswill Akpabio made the announcement after a closed-door session which lasted about 10 minutes.

He also announced Sen. Oyewumi Olalere (PDP-Osun) as Deputy Minority Leader; Sen. Darlington Nwokocha (LP-Abia), Minority Whip, and Sen. Rufai Hanga (NNPP-Kano), as Deputy Minority Whip
