Kano Government has said the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the ongoing tussle over the throne of the Emir would save the state from descending into chaos.
Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo said this at a press conference at Government House on Monday’
He therefore appealed to the President to intervene in the ongoing tussle over the throne of the Emir of Kano.
Gwarzo said that the state is renowned for its peace and stability, despite its political complexities.
The deputy governor urged the president to take necessary steps to prevent the situation from escalating.
The government acknowledged the recent amendments to the Kano State Emirates Law and the ongoing legal challenges.
Gwarzo clarified that the state government was not served with any court order regarding the matter.
He however insisted that nobody can intimidate the state government over its decision on the appointment of the dissolution of the five emirates and reinstatement of Emir Muhammadu Sanusi ll.

This development follows the signing into law of the amended Kano State Emirate Council Law by the governor on Thursday.
The amended law dissolved the five Emirate Councils and removed the emirs appointed by former governor Abdullahi Ganduje in 2019, paving the way for the re-enthronement of Sanusi.
”The state government took a decision through the proper legal process. Nobody will intimidate us for taking a decision that serves the common good of the people.
”The importance of peaceful coexistence for the state’s progress and political stability is paramount,” he said.
He called for unity and forgiveness and encouraged the people to work together towards a harmonious and prosperous Kano State.
