At the Lagos prize-presentation ceremony for the ongoing Globacom “Festival of Joy” promotion on Thursday, a civil contractor, Ayobami Adejumobi, was given the keys to a brand-new Toyota Prado.
Other Glo subscribers also took home various prizes from the event, which took place at Gloworld, Adeola Odeku, Victoria Island, including tricycles (Keke Marwa), sewing machines, grinding machines, and power generators.
Upon receiving the keys from the Special Guest of Honour, the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, a visibly elated Adejumobi, an indigene of Osun State residing in Lagos, exclaimed that it was “too good to be true”.
Said he: “A call came from Globacom and the news was too good to believe. I doubted it. Could it be fraudsters? However, I remembered the promo and how I joined when it was launched, and I immediately proceeded to the Gloworld on Adeola Odeku where the Glo officials were waiting for me. I thank Glo immensely for this prize. I will use the jeep personally; it will enhance my status and help me to get more jobs as a civil engineering contractor”.
Other winners included Daniel Eleh, a Benue State native who took home a sewing machine, 33-year-old Ayodeji Olukunmi, who won a generator, and Bukola Olatunji, from Ijebu-Ode, who won a tricycle (Keke). They expressed appreciation to Globacom. Olatunji said that she will continue to take part in all of Glo promotions going forward: “I have always been a faithful participant in various Glo promos and have never lost hope that I would one day become a winner.” Eleh, on his part, stated, “I was shocked and surprised when I got the call, Glo has always been good to Nigerians” Olukunmi remarked that “it’s indeed a joyful period, winning a brand new generator means a lot to me, God bless Globacom”.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat praised Globacom for its thoughtful promotions. “The good thing is that this is happening at a difficult time in the country. We must thank Glo for this and just pray that next year, it will be bigger. We would love the Chairman, (Dr Mike Adenuga), to make it twice this size next year. May God continue to bless the company”, he noted.
Lawrence Odediran, Divisional Head, West, at Globacom, explained in his speech that both new and existing subscribers can take part in the Festival of Joy promotion by dialing *611# to opt in and to continue recharging (voice and data) during the promo period in order to be eligible to win the prizes up for grabs.
