Osimhen seals record €75m move to Galatasaray

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has officially joined Turkish giants Galatasaray in a blockbuster €75 million deal, the biggest transfer in Turkish football history. Travel guides to Nigeria

The 26-year-old, who enjoyed a prolific loan spell last season with the Istanbul-based side, returns to the club on a permanent basis after weeks of tense negotiations with Napoli.

Osimhen scored 26 goals in 30 league matches to help Galatasaray clinch their 25th Super Lig title. That form convinced the Turkish champions to break the bank for his signature.

His absence from Napoli’s pre-season camp earlier this week raised eyebrows, but sources close to the deal confirmed that final terms were being wrapped up.

Osimhen was not in new Napoli boss Antonio Conte’s plans, making a full-time move to Turkey inevitable.

The transfer eclipses all previous records for Turkish clubs and cements Osimhen as Galatasaray’s most expensive signing ever.

Meanwhile, Napoli have already made moves of their own, securing Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne as part of a squad overhaul under Conte.

Osimhen, who shot to global fame after firing Napoli to the Serie A title in 2023, will now lead the line for Galatasaray in their UEFA Champions League campaign.

The deal ends months of speculation over his next destination, with clubs in England and Saudi Arabia previously linked with the Super Eagles forward.
