Says 8000 Boko Haram fighters have surrendered

President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigeria is winning the war against insurgency.

The president further disclosed that over 8000 Boko Haram terrorists have surrendered to the military in the northeastern region of Nigeria.

He made this known while delivering a state broadcast to the nation on the occasion of the country’s 61st independence anniversary.

President Buhari noted that in the last four months, the military and other security agencies have made tremendous progress in addressing the new security challenges.

“In the North East alone, over 8000 Boko Haram Terrorists have Surrendered,” he said.

He mentioned that the Federal Government was taking the fight against its enemies from all angles and “we are winning”.
