A yet-to-be identified adult male was Wednesday killed by a hit-and-run driver in Anambra State. The accident occurred along Ihiala-Owerri road at about 5pm.
An eyewitness, who did not mention her name, said the casualty was found lying unconscious by the roadside after he was run over by the unidentified driver.
SRC Edor Florence, sector education enlightenment officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State Command, told THE WHISTLER that the FRSC rescue team from Ihiala command found the man lying in a pool of blood when they arrived.
She said, “He was taken to Arch Angel Hospital where he was confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty. The corps has been deposited at a mortuary. The DPO, Uli Police Station, and his men were also at the scene of the crash.”
Meanwhile, the sector commander, FRSC, Anambra State command, CC Andrew A Kumapayi, has warned drivers to avoid over-speeding, especially in built-up areas. He also urged motorists to observe the maximum speed limit of 50km/hr, and called on pedestrians to be vigilant when walking along the road, as well as endevour to use pedestrian bridges where they are available.
