The Lagos State Government has taken decisive action to remove illegal structures erected by officers of the Nigerian Army adjacent to the perimeter fence of Yaba College of Technology.
This move follows the expiration of notices served to those responsible for the unauthorized constructions.
Tokunbo Wahab, the state’s Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, confirmed the demolition via social media, emphasising the government’s commitment to maintaining a cleaner Lagos.
The operation was carried out by the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), also known as KAI, as part of the ongoing #ZeroToleranceLagos initiative aimed at combating illegal encroachments and enhancing the city’s environment.
The removal of these structures underscores the state government’s determination to uphold environmental regulations and ensure that public spaces are free from illegal developments.
The operation was carried out smoothly, demonstrating the collaborative efforts between the government and enforcement agencies to promote a cleaner and more organized Lagos.
Few days ago, military operatives had attacked KAI officers who attempted to remove the illegal buildings as they inflicted serious injuries on them until the hierarchy of the army intervened, paving way for the demolition of the illegal structures.
