Florida man arrested for threatening to kill US President Biden

A 39-year-old resident of Florida Jason Patrick Alday has been arrested for threatening to kill US President Joe Biden and making threats against other federal government officials.

The US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida said in a statement that Alday was arrested on Monday

According to the statement, Alday, of Quincy, Florida, allegedly “engaged in sending threatening communications, making threats against President Joe Biden and other federal officials,” the office said in an announcement Wednesday.

The criminal complaint indicated that Alday made threatening statements about Biden while being checked into a mental health facility in Tallahassee, Florida, last month.

The investigation began in June after an Intake Coordinator of the mental health facility contacted the United State’s Secret Service Tallahassee residence officer about the behavior of Jason Patrick Alday.

According to the intake coordinator, as Alday was being processed into the intake center, he said, “I don’t like President Biden. I want to kill him, slit his throat.”

On July 11, the Secret Service was made aware of four posts that were posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, by someone with the username Jason Alderman, the affidavit says.

The first post made on June 30, stated, ” Sources: Joe Biden’s health is declining rapidly. Not doing too good at all. Should I finish him off?”

The post on July 11 stated, “I’ll kill Joe Biden today!!”

The user, who was identified as Alday, then allegedly threatened the investigating Secret Service agent and used racial slurs.

According to the Department of Justice, Alday was arrested by the United States Marshals Service Task Force, and the United States Secret Service on Monday.

Alday has been ordered detained pending trial.

His arrest came just days after an assassination attempt on his Republican rival Donald Trump.

Trump, 78, was wounded in the ear when a gunman opened fire during a campaign rally on Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania.

A rally attendee was killed while the 20-year-old gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was shot dead by Secret Service snipers.
