German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have come in as surprise bidders to sign Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford.
The 27-year-old front man was once Manchester United’s future star man, but is now considered surplus to requirements under new boss Ruben Amorim, having suffered a miserable run of form and discipline problems.
Rashford played second-half of last season at Aston Villa on loan, but the Midland club wouldn’t take him on a permanent basis — with the door wide open for Bayern.
According to reports, Bayern are exploring a deal to offer Rashford a fresh start in the Bundesliga. The England international is due back at Old Trafford for pre-season next week, but sources close to the player say he is not keen on staying.
“Marcus Rashford could be handed an escape route from his Manchester United nightmare by German giants Bayern Munich,” reports The Mirror, adding that the club is no longer counting on him going forward.
Rashford’s future now hangs in the balance as interest from abroad grows, and Bayern may be preparing a bid to revive the forward’s career in Germany.
