#IAAM Webinar series debuts
And in order to further the ‘Choose to Challenge’ theme of the International Women’s Day 2021, AAM kicked off a webinar series featuring LinkedIn Visibility Expert, Glory Edozien (Ph.D.); Founder, Gaia Africa, Olatowun Candide-Johnson and MD Ete Ogun. All three panelists spoke to more than 100 attendees on “Taking Your Place.”
Speaking on ‘Women and Corporate Governance,’ Olatowun Candide-Johnson stressed the importance of putting checks and balances in place to check senior managers and CEOs so that the interest of the company is front and center at all times.
“Instituting a system of accountability, check and balances through policies, procedures, reporting, auditing, investigation, sanctions, due process in decision making, financial integrity and training, is very crucial.
Eteh Ogun on her part stressed that young people need to take responsibility for their own growth as this is the way to financial independence. She said, ‘’we should teach young people and women about personal development. It is your responsibility to push your career forward. You own it and all the supports you need whether you source it internally or externally, and guess what, when you source for it you will get it.”
Visibility expert, Glory Edozien, delivered her points by asking thought-provoking rhetorical questions: “How do you deliver impacts? How does the work you do deliver the bottom line in your organization? Who needs to know about you as a brand? Who needs to know the great work you are doing? Start networking with the right people, have a great profile on LinkedIn, and finally create content in your expertise. Talk about the topical issues in your industry and how you are solving them. Be original and you would stand out.”
The #IAAM Webinar Series is an avenue to equip individuals with the necessary skills for a successful future and its first episode was moderated by Damilola Onishemo, Wealth Advisor with Achoria Asset Management.
