Adeyanju Calls For Probe Of Bayelsa’s N45Billion New Govt Secretariat Contract

He faulted the award of the contract, describing it as extravagant. According to Adeyanju, the move is unacceptable, especially considering the state’s financial constraints and pressing developmental needs.

A human rights lawyer, Deji Adeyanju has taken a swipe at the Bayelsa State Government for its decision to award the sum of N45 billion for the construction of a new state secretariat complex.

He faulted the award of the contract, describing it as extravagant. According to Adeyanju, the move is unacceptable, especially considering the state’s financial constraints and pressing developmental needs.

He stated this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja and urged anti-graft agencies to investigate the contract award.

The statement reads, “I urge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to promptly investigate this contract award, ensuring transparency and accountability in the utilization of public funds. The people of Bayelsa State deserve to know how their resources are being allocated.

“This lavish spending undermines the trust between the government and its citizens. I call on the EFCC to investigate the contract award process for potential irregularities and ensure compliance with public procurement regulations.

“The EFCC must safeguard Nigeria’s financial integrity and hold public officials accountable for their actions.”
