Nigerian actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao is set to return to cinemas nationwide with her latest film, ‘Owanbe Thieves’, premiering on April 18.
Following the success of her previous film, ‘Ajakaju: The Beast of Two Worlds,’ which grossed ₦250 million at the box office, Ajao is eager to captivate audiences once again.
Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, she expressed excitement about her new project.
“I’m thrilled to bring Owanbe Thieves to cinemas across Nigeria. This film is a labour of love, and I believe audiences will enjoy it just as much as they did Ajakaju,” she said.
Ajao admitted she was initially uncertain about Ajakaju’s performance in cinemas.
“Honestly, I didn’t expect it to do so well. It was my first time in cinemas, and I was scared, trying to create a buzz around the film. But the response was overwhelming.”
Inspired by the film’s success, she recently empowered 25 people with work tools, including sewing machines, hairdryers, ring lights, and makeup chairs, as a way of giving back.
“The fact that people spent their hard-earned money to watch Ajakaju made me want to show appreciation in my own little way,” she noted.
She assured moviegoers that Owanbe Thieves would be just as exciting as her last project and urged Nigerians to keep supporting the film industry despite economic challenges.
