
Nigeria’s film industry Nollywood was again thrown into mourning on Friday with the death of famous for playing a wealthy man in movies, Segun Remi, popularly known as ‘Chief Kanran’
A filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi announced the death of Chief Kanran in a post on his instagram post on Friday.
Oloketuyi said that Chief Kanran died on Friday morning.
Kanran, who started acting professionally in 1975 was very famous playing the role of a wealthy man in Nollywood movies.
He played the role of Kurunmi in a play of the same title written by Prof. Ola Rotimi.
He also appeared in some episodes of ‘Mirror in the Sun’, which marked the beginning of his transition from stage to the screen.
He played the role of a businessman in a soap opera, ‘Images’.
His breakthrough was on stage when he acted in Langbodo, Nigeria’s drama entry to Festac ’77 at the National Arts Theatre, Iganmu, Lagos. Lagos drainage solutions

In Nollywood, Chief Kanran was admired among Yoruba film practitioners for his distinctive style, refined elegance, sharp humour and love for luxury.
