LASEPA shuts down Cubana Chief Priest’s Lounge over noise pollution in Lekki

The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) on Sunday shut down Donald’s Lounge, located in Lekki Phase 1 and owned by celebrity Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, due to excessive noise pollution.

The shutdown order was issued by the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, who emphasized that the action was taken in the interest of public health.

The decision followed repeated warnings after numerous complaints from residents and nearby businesses regarding the persistent noise levels from the lounge, which had been disturbing the peace of the area.

LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Babatunde Ajayi, reinforced the agency’s stance, stating, “The agency will not tolerate any form of environmental pollution, including noise pollution, which can have adverse effects on the health and well-being of Lagosians.”

Ajayi also highlighted that the closure of the lounge was a testament to the Lagos State Government’s commitment to safeguarding the environment and ensuring compliance with the state’s environmental regulations.

He advised the management of Donald’s Lounge to take the necessary steps to reduce noise levels and comply with other state environmental standards before the lounge would be allowed to reopen.

LASEPA further urged all businesses and individuals to adhere to environmental regulations and respect the rights of others to a clean and peaceful environment.
