FCID Alagbon drags 2 to court over alleged N283m property theft

Operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID at Alagbon Close, Force Headquarters Ikoyi, Lagos have arrested a businessman, Nicholas Omion, 51 and his alleged female accomplice, Funmilayo Oruma, 50, and charged them before a Lagos Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing and damaging properties valued at N283m at the Tin Can Port, Apapa, Lagos.

Police alleged that the defendants allegedly stole a Pathfinder Jeep, Mercedes Benz ML500, Toyota Corrola and other valuable properties valued at $85,000 equivalent to N130m and damaged container trucks and their contents valued at N153m belonging to Mr Mike Onyia at the Tincan Port, Apapa.

Police also accused Oruma of receiving stolen properties such as sharp television 64 inches, used handsets and Computers knowing full well that the properties were stolen.

The defendants were charged before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court sitting at the Ebute-Metta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos on four counts bordering on conspiracy, stealing, unlawful property damage and receiving stolen properties.

Police counsel, Ishola Samuel who stood in for Amedu Adoga told the Court in the charge marked G/20/2024 that the defendants committed the offence on 7 July 2022 at the Tin Can Port, Apapa, Lagos.

Samuel informed the court that the defendants stole and damaged properties valued at N283m and also received stolen properties belonging to the complainant, Mike Onyia.

He said the offences the defendants committed were punishable under sections 411,287,451 and 427 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and Magistrate Mrs Olagbeinde granted them bail and adjourned the case till 4 June 2024 for mention.
