The Cross River state chapter of the APC is likely to have a state congress on February 24, 2018, a chieftain of the party and Chairman of the Special Investigation Panel on Recovery of Public Property, Okoi Obono-Obla, said this yesterday in Abuja.
Obono-Obla said this while fielding questions from journalists at the national secretariat of the APC after a reconciliatory stakeholders’ meeting.
He said the guidelines had been issued after the resolution to conduct a fresh congress to elect a chairman in Cross River State.
He said there was a vacancy following the appointment of the pioneer Chairman, Pastor Usani Uguru Usani, as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs.
The APC chieftain said the people from Cross River Central had been insisting on having another chairman to complete the tenure of Usani who hails from their zone.
He said the retention of Usani’s deputy from the North as acting chairman was one of the issues causing the crisis in the state, adding that with the constitution of the APC National Reconciliation Committee, led by Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu, it was time to embrace peace in Cross River.
