Singer Afeez Fashola, popularly known as Naira Marley, has threatened to sue Nigerian record producer, Solomon Oyeniyi, aka K-Solo, for making serious accusations against him.

This follows K-Solo’s recent appearance on Channels TV’s “Rubbin’ Minds” program, where he alleged that Naira Marley was involved in the tragic death of his former signee, Mohbad.

During the September 17 interview, K-Solo claimed, “Naira Marley is involved in Mohbad’s death. He cannot tell me he is not involved. He has a hand in his death.” Naira Marley‘s team contends that these allegations, made without substantial evidence, have significantly damaged the singer’s reputation.

In response to these accusations, Naira Marley’s media team released a statement on October 26, stating their intention to take legal action against K-Solo for defamation of character. They expressed their intention to stop individuals with negative agendas from tarnishing Naira Marley’s reputation and declare him guilty of an offense he did not commit. The statement emphasized the need for concrete proof when making allegations against Naira Marley, both online and in a court of law.

Naira Marley who has consistently denied any involvement in Mohbad’s tragic passing therefore asked K-Solo to provide evidence to support his claim.

“The legal team representing Naira Marley will be initiating legal action against K-Solo for defamation of character. It is essential to emphasize that making unfounded allegations and false statements can have far-reaching consequences.

“Accusations of this nature not only tarnish the image of the accused but also perpetuate baseless claims that have spread like wildfire because elements like K-Solo and others (especially two known actresses) have spearheaded the campaign of calumny against the person of Naira for reasons best known to them.

“In the past, we kept quiet because we wanted to honour the memory of the dead and honour the relationship with him but we realized many people are setting a negative agenda and spreading a negative narrative against Naira Marley. We will no longer fold our hands and watch people with a negative agenda drag Naira Marley.

“From this moment on, anyone who alleges must present concrete proof not only on the Internet but also in a Court of Law. Every falsehood and rumor will be met with severity and full weight of the law.”
