Tight security as Ondo Assembly moves to impeach deputy gov

There is tension in Ondo State as members of the state House of Assembly have commenced the process of removing the Deputy Governor, Agboola Ajayi.

The lawmakers are currently in session deliberating on the allegations of gross misconduct against the embattled deputy governor.

Armed policemen and Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps have been deployed in the House of Assembly to prevent any breakdown of law and order as a result of this move.

The deputy governor recently dumped the All Progressives Congress and has picked up the governorship nomination form of his new party, the Peoples Democratic Party.

He alleged that the governor was planning to bribe the lawmakers to remove him following his defecting but the governor has since denied this.

Ajayi through his counsel, I Play one had on Tuesday approached the court seeking an order to restrain the Assembly from removing him from office.

Also joined in the state of suit are the Inspector General of Police, State Commissioner Of Police, Department of State Services and the Speaker of the Assembly, Mr David Oleyeloogun.

The deputy governor said he had the right to retain his office despite his defection to the PDP.
